Snow Bodices

For snow corps I have to wear a romantic tutu with attached bodice- which has no 'give'. When I tried it on several weeks ago, I thought it was really tight- I have to 'suck it in' to get it to hook... and I don't really have anything to 'suck in'!

I was told 'that's how it's supposed to fit.' Okay, okay, I thought. Until I danced in it. I can't draw a deep breath. I'm panting by the end of snow simply because I simply CANNOT BREATHE. I asked someone about it, and I was told, 'oh, that just makes you look better.'!!!

I'm a little worried about passing out; however, everyone else is just as tight, some tighter. A couple girls have to leave one or two of the hooks undone.

IS this how it's supposed to fit? If so, how am I supposed to keep from passing out?!?!

Thanks!!

Major lesson to be learned here....when you are being fitted for a costume, do NOT hold anything in, especially the rib cage! The costume should never prevent breathing. Either get them to fix it, move the hooks over yourself, or leave some undone. You cannot afford to not breathe, especially through something as long as Snow. And next time when they fit you, expand that rib cage! :D

My school has a set of costumes just like that; and I've had to wear one several times. Now those costumes are still less than a year old and they are already falling apart. The strip that the hooks and eyes are attached to is sort of tearing away from the rest of the bodice. It makes them feel less tight and when they're being worn, it isn't really visible. Maybe yours will kind of wear out like that, too. I know that kind of thing isn't supposed to happen, but if it makes the costume work...

I spoke to one of the ladies- who I hapen to be friendly with anyway- and she said it wasn't 'her' department, and had me talk to the woman whose dept. it was. She rolled her eyes and said (as I had mentioned it yesterday) "We've been through this already!" (insert big sigh). The first lady, fortunately, took pity on me and sewed it for me, thank goodness!
