RAD Intermediate examination uniform includes demi-pointe shoes, also known as soft block shoes.

Soft block/demi-pointe shoes are made like pointe shoes, only the box is much lighter, and it is not articulated with the midsole assembly, which is, in turn, not reinforced with a shank.

Should I wait for my teacher to tell me to buy them, I know girls in previous years have worn " dead" point shoes in class. What companies make demi points? What have others worn for there Intermediate exam?

Grishko, Sansha, and Freed are some of the companies that make Demi-pointes (soft-blocks) if they are required for your exams.

If you are allowed to de-shank an old pair of pointes, then I can probably help with that. I say "probably" because it depends on the brand and style pointe shoes.

I can't answer your question about what exactly is required, and perhaps the best place to find that information out, would be your teacher.
