Russina
Kudos to you for the heads up! I've got to DVR these. Ovation is GREAT. I loved Margot the documentary. Quote Link to comment
casserina
We just got the station but a bunch of people have told me they air a lot of dance stuff so I'm excited Quote Link to comment
cowgrrl
They did this last year without the Thursday & Friday ones. I personally like the Bolshoi one the best. The Mark Morris one (The Hard Nut) was....unusual. Quote Link to comment
crockett
What is ovations network? I looked through all the channels on cable (we receive quite alot) and couldn't find it? Quote Link to comment
Clara 76
Ovation TV I have Time Warner Columbus, Ohio and my Ovation is channel 108....I think. Quote Link to comment
crockett
Thank you, Clara. Quote Link to comment
b1
Channel 110 Ovation is a little obscure cable channel. It has some descent ballet programs, but few are new, and they repeat EVERYTHING. However, I have taped most of the ballet programs they have shown. They are wonderful for times when NOTHING good is on tv. Sadly, I miss dance on PBS the most. I haven't seen anything good on PBS for a long time (since the men of ballet program...forget the title). Ovation TVI have Time Warner Columbus, Ohio and my Ovation is channel 108....I think. Quote Link to comment
pavlova
Channel 274 on our Direct TV. The Bolshoi's up tonight! Quote Link to comment
Clara 76
Yes! 110!! Thank you, b1!!!!! Quote Link to comment
casserina
I loved the balanchine one but did not like the Mark Morris or Mathew Bourne, I enjoy the classical versions most (: I DVR'd Bolshoi but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Quote Link to comment
b1
OMG, it is S L O W ! It is beautiful, but after watching the Balanchine version (and knowing other versions), it is so slow, it was hard to not want them to speed up! I am curious about the PNB movie. Never heard of it, but it is an old version/movie (1980something). Quote Link to comment
timedancingby
We have seen the movie a couple of times. We enjoyed it, but part of it's appeal for us is that my dd has past and present instructors in the movie. It is more of a silent movie than a video of the ballet. PNB's version of the Nutcracker is not my favorite, but it is much better to watch live as a ballet, than a movie! Quote Link to comment
casserina
I think the PNB version is a bit odd. The arabian is a peacock and russian is a tribal dance and chinese dance has some odd monster come out. I've only seen bits and pieces of it though. Quote Link to comment
b1
I'm kind of enjoying this Bejart version. I came in during the March, so I missed any commentary. What year was this done? Ok, I changed my mind. It is too weird. I am not understanding the whole Boy Scout thing. Quote Link to comment
