Here's the synopsis I found for this movie:

All self-taught dancer Kate Parker has ever wanted to do was perform with the American Academy of Ballet. But when she doesnt make it after auditioning, she learns that it takes more than precision and perfection to succeed in the dance world. With a turn in a cutting-edge hip-hop club and the help of a good-looking former hockey player, she may just find the passion she needs to make her dreams come true. Peter Gallagher (TVs The O.C.) and a cast of hot up-and-coming stars including newcomers Rachele Smith and Kenny Wormald rock to a new beat in this unmissable sensation!

Does it have even the slightest redeeming quality (i.e. Wheeldon choreography, SAB students, ballet dancer cameos, NYST shots) or is it rather yet another hackneyed "Hip Hop = Life Lessons" bonanza?...

Oh, now I know what I've been doing wrong. I've been looking for excellent ballet teachers when all along what my daughter needed to succeed was a good-looking ex-hockey player...

Think we'd better stick to the ballet teachers.

Not all the actresses in Centerstage I had ballet training either, at least not training all the way up did they? That's what the "stunt double" dancers were used for.

LOL, yes, verdict will be held in check until I see it. However, I was one who enjoyed the 1st one in the theatres when many others were saying it wasn't much of a movie.

I don't know if ALL had formal ballet training, but I do know that Amanda Schull "Jody Sawyer" trained with SFB, where she was discovered for the role. Zoe Saldana "Eva" studied ballet at ECOS in the Dominican Republic. Sascha Radetsky "Charlie" is a very accomplished dancer, currently dancing with the Dutch National Ballet as a Principal. Julie Kent "Kathleen" is still a Principal with ABT. Megan Pepin "Anna" danced in the Corps de Ballet of the New York City Ballet. Sandra Brown "Swan Lake Soloist" is a soloist with ABT. Elizabeth Gaither "Swan Lake Soloist" Corps de Ballet of ABT. Also, the majority of the cast that I had researched acting as dancers truly were dancers or are dancers with ABT or NYCB in some capacity. So, I'm not sure how many "dance doubles" were actually used.

I've been waiting for this movie all summer! I can't wait to watch it! Just a little less than a week away. I don't think it will be nearly as good or as original as the first but it will still be worth watching. I really hope it doesn't incorporate hip hop in anyway.

Jewels-

Aren't those dancers that you named from the first movie, and not this one? I looked at IMDB and the only dancer I saw in the second movie was Ethan Steifel (Yummy! )
