MySonLovesBallet
My son loves ballet. He is starting middle school next year and will be taking dance classes daily. If he gets into the Middle School of the Arts, it emphasises classical/ballet for 65 minutes per day. However, if not, he would take dance at the regular middle school for about 45 minutes per day. There it might include other styles of dance. At first, I thought he would not need to continue in his current ballet school in the evenings. Right now, he takes two classes a week. He has the same teacher for both and she seems to be very good. I am starting to think after reading messages on this board that he should continue at the ballet school even if he does get into our Middle School of the Arts. Has anyone else run into a similar dilemma? What do you think? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted January 25, 2009 Administrators Report Share Posted January 25, 2009 He should definitely continue his classes in the ballet school! The classes in the Middle Schools are not enough. Quote Link to comment
Millie
When my son was in grades 6, 7, and 8, he had three hours of dance Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings. He loved it and did not burn out. In high school he danced 4 to 5 hours a day plus Saturday mornings. Yes, I think he needs to stay at his ballet school as well. Quote Link to comment
MySonLovesBallet
Thank you for the replies. We will stick with his current ballet school as long as we can. Quote Link to comment
