tangerinetwist
I am happy to share the article that appeared in today's Detroit Free Press about the teacher with whom I study, Christina Kammuller. She and her students are an inspiration for all of us in the "over 18' crowd. These women are great to share class and we hang out at Starbucks on Sundays together sometimes, talking kids, politics and life in the 21st Century. Enjoy! http://www.freep.com/article/20090125/TWIS...in+ballet+class Quote Link to comment

AnneT
Thanks, Tangerinetwist - I wouldn't have seen that one if you hadn't posted. Always a treat when one of our wonderful adult teachers get noticed. Miss you at the barre on this side of town! Anne Quote Link to comment
tangerinetwist
I wish Suzanne's classes weren't so early in the morning. At least I could get to that side of town when my in-laws weren't in Florida so I'd have a sitter. I miss seeing you too, Anne T. Quote Link to comment
jimpickles
From the article, it sounds as if the heading here should have been "women-only" rather than "adult only". Jim. Quote Link to comment
Redbookish
She and her students are an inspiration for all of us in the "over 18' crowd. Sounds great, tangerinetwist, and very like a class I go to (not at the moment, but I'm working up to it). THanks for posting it. But do you really all dance in tutus?? I wondered if that were journalistic gloss? Quote Link to comment
tangerinetwist
From the article, it sounds as if the heading here should have been "women-only" rather than "adult only". Jim. The article does mention the lone male who was in class the day the Free Press writer was there. We currently have the man mentioned who is pursuing a dance degree at a local university as well as an osteopathic resident who comes on Sundays. The writer was there on a Friday, and many of us who work and have families were not able to join in the fun of the day. Quote Link to comment
jimpickles
Yes, I guess I should have noticed that!! Jim. Quote Link to comment

The rest of the time we are all in leotards and tights, many lovely print skirts, legwarmers and a few in yoga pants. Quote Link to comment
blaise
"Yeah, it makes me feel better about myself. I feel like I'm accomplishing something and I can do things other people my age can't do," says Schramm. "We're all passionate about it. There's something that makes you a groupie." Don't know if I'd ever call myself a ballet groupie but good for her (and everyone else, obviously). Thanks for sharing the article! Quote Link to comment
Shannonian101
I saw this newspaper, and when I saw something about ballet- I immediately picked it up! Great article! Quote Link to comment
