Use of Upper Case, Punctuation, Full Words

It is our policy here on Ballet Talk for Dancers to make our posts as clear and as well-written as possible. Everyone makes typos now and then, and spelling errors, especially with ballet terms, are not unusual. What we DO ask is that you PLEASE write in complete sentences, use paragraphs, punctuation marks, and UPPER CASE letters where appropriate. Substituting numbers for words, or abbreviations that are not very common and known by everyone, is also considered inappropriate.

We try very hard to get our Teens to not use texting type here, and to write things out so that they are not only clear for those of us who speak English as a first language, but for our many members from around the world who speak English as a second, or even third, language!

We find it not only disconcerting, but even lacking in respect when proper names of people, places, schools, companies, and the first person singular personal pronoun are not capitalized.

Thank you for your cooperation in respecting our policies! :)

Bumping up as a reminder for our members to PLEASE use proper capitalization, grammar, and punctuation. We expect the Adult members to follow these Rules, just like the Young Dancers.

Keep in mind, we have many members for whom English is not their first language.  Please be considerate and don’t make folks guess at what you are trying to write.

We do have a few approved abbreviations for posting: http://dancers.invisionzone.com/topic/6018-important-acronyms-abbreviations/

BUMP!

Just a reminder to all members, please pay attention to your writing.  We have many members for whom English is not their first language, so make posts easier to read by adhering to standard English rules of grammar.  It helps us all!   The use of paragraphs are welcome, also!

Members, please remember to proof read your posts and use standard English punctuation, capitalization and structure.

Please do not use text-speak, abbreviations, slang abbreviations.  It makes it difficult to read and converse.

Yes, phone keyboards make it more annoying to follow these rules. BUT, do take the time to do so.

Bump!  As apparently many have not noticed this Rule.
