Gideon
Last year I had surgery on the front of my ankles for bone spurs. Everything has been recovering well, except my ankle flexibility. When I point my toe it only points about 150 degrees Also my demi plie is very limited. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to improve this problem Thanks Gideon Quote Link to comment
Garyecht
After a medical procedure resulting in loss of flexibility, the first rule is to work with a physical therapist to regain the flexibility you lost. The physical therapist will know the reasons for loss of flexibility and have an appropriate remediation plan. Outside of that, in my opinion the best development activity for the foot and ankle is ballet class. If you coordinate ballet class with the physical therapist, you should be in good shape. Mel Johnson
Gary is quite correct; coordinated PT and class will do the trick. A short do-almost-anywhere routine runs: To restore demi-plié, do demi-pliés! Plenty of them, lots of them. To build a well-pointed foot, do tendus. Balanchine was right to be so fond of them. Gideon
Okay, thanks guys. I'll try to get in some pliés and tendus before I go to bed and when I get up. Quote Link to comment
