Performance experience

I will be applying to colleges with dance programs in the fall of 2010. I was wondering how important having performance experience is to these colleges. I am thinking about Indiana university, Utah university, UC irvine, and butler.

I think that most programs look at you in the audition and make their decisions from that, rather than from the resumé. However, a lack of performing experience could make a difference in the way you present yourself in the audition, as, even though it is a class, they will look for the performance aspect, and also the confidence factor.
