Will other forms of dance harm a boy studying ballet?

My son's ballet teacher insists the kids also study other forms of dance so they can be well rounded. Modern, jazz, lyrical, and tap are all offered at our ballet studio. My kids have also taken acro and hip hop other places as well. I am told artistic directors are looking for dancers who can adapt easily to a variety of rep. It makes no sense to me to say you can't explore other styles at the same time you are learning ballet. My kids are well versed in how different moves are translated between ballet and jazz.

My son's studio also does the RAD cirriculum and exams and he takes jazz, progressions and tap in addition to ballet technique. (He is 7). The director supports learning different methods.

Our studio limits additional dance to tap until a student has completed two years of leveled ballet training. After that a wider range is encouraged.
