Sandra
Hi, Everyone. This will be my first time at Sunking Dance Camp and I am really nervous, but excited. I will probably be the "granny" of the group, since I am 64 and have only been taking ballet for the last 6 yrs. Any input will be appreciated. I know what ballet gear to bring, but what about clothes for the "meet & greet" and last dinner? Sandra Quote Link to comment
gimpydancer
Yay, another first week of August camper! I don't have any advice since it's my first camp but welcome! Quote Link to comment
Serendipity
I brought casual but nice stuff. I'm not one for dressing up. I did bring something quite nice for the last night's dinner, though. You did just remind me that I have to find a nice dress for this year. I've shrunk since last year's camp by about 3 dress sizes at least. <grin> You will not really be doing much of anything else but the camp, if you're anything like me. Oh, and don't think you'll be the oldest either. You won't. I was there last year. It's so inspirational to see what everyone can do, regardless of age! :-) Quote Link to comment

I know what ballet gear to bring, but what about clothes for the "meet & greet" and last dinner? Sandra Last month was my fourth June camp; I'm 63 now and I've never been the oldest (and just passed the 6 year mark myself). You will have buddies of **all** ages before the end of the week. I brought nicer clothes the first time, but now I just bring a sports coat and decent turtleneck and clean jeans. Some really dress up for the Friday bash, some don't - we all look different with clothes on, no matter what! By Friday we are all friends, so dress up if you like to do that, or be relaxed if you like to do that. Meet and greet tends to be lower key. Do go to the dance store, it's all about Nacho Mama's after the store visit - casual but fun. After Monday you're going to be working your butt off along with everyone else, wear anything anytime and nobody will notice. Quote Link to comment
Balletlove
OOOhhhh, but I am SOOOOOO jealous reading about all of you both young and not quite so young that are off to camp or SI's. We really dont have anything like that here. Quote Link to comment
gimpydancer
We'd love to have you come and hang out with us next summer! Quote Link to comment

Reebs511
Glad we'll have another camper next week! Last year I posted a big ole list of stuff to bring, so I'll have to find that. I remember definitely over-packing non-dance stuff. Most nights I hung in the hotel lobby in comfy clothes with the other dancers. ETA: Found the list! I'll post a link in the 2010 thread to help everyone. Quote Link to comment
