Holding up tights

i am wondering what you guys use to hold up your tights besides suspenders. I have been told to use a belt, but do you use an actual belt, like one you would wear with dress slacks? Can you use an elastic band?

Thanks in advance,

Get a piece of non-roll elastic, stretch it around your waist, mark it and then add 2". Sew at the 2" overlap and then roll your tights over the elastic.

And back in the day - you know, the Cro-Magnon days - I used to use US Army surplus "garrison belts". They went obsolete around the start of WWII, but they were still selling them off as surplus in the 1960s!

I had forgotten my elastic one night and used my tactical belt from work. It worked just fine, nice to know I wasn't the only one that did that.

If you ever visit a thrift shop, see if they have any any elastic belts, they apparently are no longer made. The sweat will destroy them eventually so don't pay more than a dollar.

With Suspenders, relieving oneself is more complicated.

Sort of interesting side note for those interested in uniforms-as-fashion or -utility clothing: The original stock of US Army surplus garrison belts (1¾-inch leather, black) has long been depleted, but the things proved useful for so many applications, that several manufacturers have continued to make them, even down to the advancing present.

LOL, that's a good reminder for everyone - constricting tights and dance belts can be complicated enough, I might add.
