ballerinajess
I have a three week break until my fall semester begins. Of course I don't plan to completely stay off that long. I plan on taking about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks off and taking at least one week of open classes before returning to my full time schedule in september. But my question is, how can I stay in shape while still giving my body the rest that it needs? Also, tips for not putting weight on on breaks? I fully recognize that my body needs a break, but I don't want to return to classes and feel like I need to start over! Also, nutcracker auditions are the third week into the semester, so I want to be into tip top shape by that point. Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 16, 2010 Administrators Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 If you have been dancing all summer up until now, then your body needs a rest! At least a week. You will not lose anything in that length of time. Some simple and gentle floor stretches should be quite sufficient. You know we do not discuss weight here, but the answer to that question should be obvious if you think about it. As for being in shape, the open classes for a week or two prior to starting should be all that you need to do. Don't obsess about it, relax and enjoy a little time off! Link to comment
ballerinajess
Thank you Ms. Leigh! I am looking forward to some aspects of the break, but at the same time I don't like time of from dancing but I realize that I need it and I'm sure it will benefit me in the long run! Link to comment
