tatlet
My 16 year old dd is currently dealing with a long-term back injury and is feeling very frustrated and upset with herself right now. Tuesday will mark the 7th week of her rest period. She just had a follow up doctor visit and was told that she would need to rest for an additional four to six weeks before she could even begin PT. Not exactly what she wanted to hear! I have been looking all over the web for articles about dancers who have had long-term injuries and have also gone on to have success in their professional careers. The only one I was able to find is the article on Sarah Lamb. Any suggestions on books/articles that may provide inspiration are greatly appreciated! Quote Link to comment
Administrators mom2 Posted August 30, 2010 Administrators Report Share Posted August 30, 2010 Darci Kistler apparently sustained some pretty serious injuries, yet also enjoyed a long career as well: http://www.playbillarts.com/features/article/8415.html Quote Link to comment
Administrators mom2 Posted August 30, 2010 Administrators Report Share Posted August 30, 2010 And another article about Bridgette Zehr of the National Ballet of Canada. The article was written while she was in the midst of an unfortunate injury-prone phase at NBOC - she overcame the injuries and was promoted to principal dancer status. http://www.danceinternational.org/archive/...2008.html#bzehr Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Any discussion of this topic has to include a reference to biographies of Alicia Alonso, whose eye troubles subjected her to multiple long convalescences after surgeries. Quote Link to comment
