Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 In ABT's video of Paquita, the one made in the early 80's with Cynthia Gregory, there is a variation that is not on the recorded versions of the music that I have found. It is the second soloist variation, the slow one with a harp intro. (Not the Etoile variation.) It's probably not Minkus, possibly Pugni. I have searched everywhere I can think of, including all of the classical music sites. Help!!! I need this music for a student I am coaching for YAGP and I really want to use this variation. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 I found a thread on BT about this, (thank you RG), and someone said that the music was Drigo and from Le Reveil de Flore. I have over 27 minutes of that on the Homage to Pavlova CD, and that variation is not there. Quote Link to comment
ToThePointe
Is that the variation with the turn in attitude followed by the sautilles in arabesque? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 No. It has a lovely harp entrance, and starts with soussus entrechat six, relevé attitude devant, and piqué attitude derrière (2). It contains an à la second sauté en tournant that steps into a piqué en dehors pirouette ending in arabesque, and there is a circle of grand fouetté sauté/releve arabesque. Quote Link to comment
GTLS Designs
When I danced for Trockadero, he had recordings for ALL of the variations - dunno where he got them? Maybe you could email the company and ask where they got the recording, or if you could borrow it? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you, GTLS. I will check into that. Quote Link to comment
ToThePointe
Ms. Leigh, I've been all over the internet on this one out of my own curiosity. It apparently was done by Drigo, but I can't find a copy of it or an official title to it. It is not on "Fete du Ballet." I have that and listened to all the tracks by Drigo. Maybe ABT could help you? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you, ToThePointe. I appreciate your trying. I have been searching for hours yesterday and today. The biggest disappointment was when it was not on the Le Reveil de Flore that I have. I have written to a friend at ABT to see what she can find out, but my guess is that they would only have the scores for the orchestra. Quote Link to comment
caliope
If you have a dvd of the performance with a good quality audio track, it is possible to rip the music from the dvd onto your computer. You could format it as an mp3 file and/or and burn it to a cd. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 12, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 Caliope, the problem is the applause. I don't know how to get that out. Quote Link to comment
Momof3darlings
Ms. Leigh is there a youtube video where we can hear the music? I can let my DH listen and see if he has a clue where it might elsewhere be heard? Quote Link to comment
Lidewij
I think is the variation we're talking about? I'm no help in finding the music.. But maybe others will now Quote Link to comment
ToThePointe
Yes, that is the variation. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 13, 2010 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 13, 2010 Yep, that's it! Quote Link to comment
Ballet Mistress tdc
Brio Recordings sells a CD that is a compilation. Believe it includes the variation you are looking for. It is not the orchestrated version, only piano. http://www.briorecordings.com/br12.htm Quote Link to comment
