Which underwear?

This is a little embarrasing but I need a little help on choosing underwear for underneath my tights, leotard and teeny black see throught skirt.

I went and bought some black panties which have a high leg but sometimes they are still visible when I stretch. I also tried a thong but that is WAAAY too uncomfortable. I even tried wearing the tights commando with the leotard which creates the best line, but then I am afraid to try centre splits.

Please help! It's a funny problem...am I the only one wondering what to wear? I did a search and can't find any information on this.

Panties are not generally worn with tights. They are considered the "underwear", and the leotard goes over them. Since they have to be washed after every class anyway, there is simply no need for panties, and they are basically impossible to keep from showing.

Just curious, but why does not wearing underwear under your tights make you not want to try center splits?? I don't get it.

 

Most people do not wear underwear under their tights. I have seen tons of discussion about this with regards to little kids who still want to wear them (or the parents want them to). I have only seen it on here for adults with respect to bras. I have to wear a good sports bra underneath as I'm a D cup, but much of the smaller busted women do not wear bras underneath either.

I have never had a problem with wearing underwear under tights, but I'm thinking maybe they are cut differently in the UK as I know mine definitely never, ever show. I have to say I could not wear pink tights without underwear unless I decided to shave everywhere! Maybe that's what others do? I have no idea. I also wouldn't like to wear a nylon mix (ie the tights) next to my skin, but I know I am biased towards wearing underwear because that's what I've always done.

 

Whereabouts are you worried they will show? (if it's not too indecent to ask!)

I never wear underwear under tights. That's why the tights have a cotton crotch.

 

If you really insist, look into gymnastics clothing. NCAA gymnasts wear some sort of underwear that are designed to go under leos.

I have to say I could not wear pink tights without underwear unless I decided to shave everywhere!

 

I fixed this problem by waxing. The first few times of waxing are beyond horrible...you bruise, you bleed. I literally smacked my asthetician's hand's away. LOL But after that, the hair grows in really fine like the hair on your arms and subsequent waxings are far less an issue. The bonus is that you can go 3-5 WEEKS between waxings.

I could never go without underwear... Anyway, I wear Tangas (no idea how they are called in english...it is not quite a thong, it covers your backside a bit more). If they are flesh-coloured and show a little bit, now one will hardly note (those without seams. They are hard to get but they do exist)

 

For one specific leo I have to wear a thong. Although I hate them, I got used to them.

Maybe this will not happen though....it just feels a little breezy! LOL

I am also Irish....and I see the English lady on here does wear underwear...maybe it's a European thing!?

I guess I will just try to relax....

As a kid in ballet class In Ireland I wore what we call knickers (panties) with my leotard.

Won't happen...you don't give your tights enough credit. They should hold you more secure than any pair of underwear would ever hope to...if not, you might want to consider different tights.

 

I really like the seamed, convertible "knit mesh" tights that are usually used by professional dancers. They look woven or textured and you can sew them up easily if you get a hole. They are a bit more pricey, but they last a long time. They are a bit thicker than most tights as well.

I don't wear panties under my tights either, but it's something I picked up while living in the States. I don't know whether most people here wear underwear or not.

I wear panties with regular panty hose, but that is under a dress or skirt that isn't nearly as skin tight as a leo. Plus, I get so hot/sweaty while dancing...less is more in the clothing category. Heck, in the summer, I half want to strip down to just dance bloomers and bra.

Hi Rlyons. I would imagine that if you keep experimenting you'll definitely find some that cause no problems. I would imagine that Irish knickers are the same as UK ones! Tesco have some really good ones that you can get in either briefs or thongs which are very fine and seamless. Also, why don't you ask in a M&S lingerie department? I'm sure they could advise. I've never had a problem finding them, but if all fails, good dancewear shops and online dancewear shops sell specific knickers to go under leotards. For example www.dancingboutique.com stocks them, although I'm not sure if they deliver to Ireland. (They may not appear on the website but they definitely have them).
