Nik
I'm sure this has already been asked, but I can't seem to find it! My hip flexors are very tight in battements and developpes a la seconde and also tilts in modern class. I feel as if I get to a certain point, usually just above 90 degrees, and my hips stop me from going any further or I get a slight pinching pain. But if I hold it to get it past that certain point, when I let go I can maintain it higher than when I developpe it. I have a fairly good straddle though and I've tried many variations of lungs, pigeon pose, etc. and always stretch my hips after class. I've been looking online for additional stretches, but I can't find much geared toward dancers. Do you have any particular stretches you would recommend? Or do you think it has more to do with strength? Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Hi Nik, and welcome to Ballet Talk for Dancers. Since this is your first post, I'm going to encourage you to start making use of the "bells and whistles" that the site has. If you run a search on "hip flexors" (with the quotation marks), you'll find that we have indeed had many previous posts and threads which deal with them. About 300 showed up when I did the search, counting yours. Your answer will most likely be found in that search. Link to comment
