Injuries and Triumphs Color a Ballet Season at ABT

Was surprised to see it mentioned that Michelle Wiles has left ABT? Also, will be interesting to see how ABT manages it's principal roles next season, with all of the recent injuries and retirements. Or will they continue to bring in guest artists from other companies to fill in these roles?

I was surprised as well. The author mentioned it, almost in passing, in an article from July 5 (I think) on the various Swan Lake performances (comparing ABT, NYCB, and others). That led me to double check with my own sources at ABT who all confirmed it, but without much additional information. I still have not seen any other announcements outside of these 2 pieces in the NYT.

 

It will be interesting to see if some move up in the ranks or if they bring in from the outside. There are a few I'd love to see move into more prominent roles. I am wondering how many openings there will be at the top when it all sorts out.
