RussianBallerina
At my ballet school, we are allowed to wear both canvas and leather technique shoes for ballet class and I recently wore out my last pair of cheap leather ballet technique shoes and I am in need of a new pair. Since my last pair of leather shoes were about $10 and very poorly made, I do not have a good idea of what good leather technique shoes would be like. I also have never worn canvas technique shoes. My question is this, what are the pros and cons of leather and canvas shoes and which shoes would you recommend? Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 26, 2011 Administrators Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 We would recommend that you go to a good dancewear store that has someone who knows how to fit shoes. Try on leather full sole, leather split sole, canvas full sole, and canvas split sole. See which ones feel the best and make your foot look best in a tendu. Be very sure that it is fitted correctly, and NEVER buy cheap ballet shoes! Link to comment
PSB Ballerina
Personally I like canvas because when stretching I find leather sticks to the floor. Link to comment
RussianBallerina
Thank you Ms. Leigh and PSB Ballerina. Ms. Leigh, now that I think back on it, I never should had bought the $10 shoes, they were utterly terrible! PSB Ballerina, what type of canvas shoe is your favorite? Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 28, 2011 Administrators Report Share Posted November 28, 2011 Let's not go there, RussianBallerina. We do not want a discussion on this forum about everybody's favorite technique shoes. Save that for when you get to the Buddy Board, and in the meantime, go get fitted properly and find the shoe that is best for you! Topic closed, as the question has been answered. Link to comment
