first arabesque photo

Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right board, but I had a quick question. I have been asked to submit a photo of myself in first arabesque for a particular project, either on pointe or flat. I have headshots, but I've never taken a full body, dance shot. How high is the leg expected to be for a professional shot? Mine is at about 90 right now, and I ask because I don't want to send something in and look foolish if it is expected that my leg will be higher. I'll obviously be working on it until I take the picture, but I was just wondering if there is a particular expectation. Sorry, I feel like all my posts are about leg height these days!! This is not for a ballet piece, but in this photo I should look like a fairly advanced ballet student...

Thanks! Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving :)

Oops! A parent wandered into the YD forum and a post, albeit well-intentioned, was removed. Parents, please trust that the Teacher-Moderators will answer the YDs' questions ASAP, but they, like everyone else, really aren't' on the computer every minute, so there may be a bit of a delay.

Katarina, the line of your arabesque is more important than the height. If you have a clean, well placed and rotated arabesque, with a well shaped foot, and the arms well placed and not stiff or mannered, then you will look good. How professional it will look? Well, that depends a lot on your ability to do the above, which would involve your training history and your own physical facility.

A parent suggested Googling 'ballet first arabesque photos' and you should be able to see some good lines there. :)

Thanks, that is good to hear :) I think I have a pretty good handle on all of the things you mentioned, so hopefully it will look professional and the height won't matter as much...

A really good, clean line at 90 degrees would, in my opinion, be better than a super high arabesque with hips whacky or arms all over the place, or a poor line of the leg and foot. I would suggest that you make it at least 90 degrees, however.
