Sophaloaf
I am 16 years old, I started RAD ballet 2 1/2 years ago and I'm dreaming big. Like many of the girls here I dream of joining a professional ballet company and becoming a prima ballerina. However. Most girls start at age 6, I started 8 years late. I really want to be more serious about dancing, my teacher however, refuses to take me seriously for the most ridiculous of reasons. It is the simple fact that I have breasts. Quiet large ones. I know it is because I started ballet after I had already developed, whereas most other girls start younger and develop a better ballerina body. Is this seriously going to mean I can't make it as a dancer?! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted December 22, 2011 Administrators Report Share Posted December 22, 2011 No, that reason alone is not necessarily going to prevent a career in ballet. There are so many aspects to be considered and there are many dancers today who are more feminine looking than others. Quote Link to comment
