Balletwear for Christmas

How many people got or treated themselves to balletwear this Christmas? I don't usually receive anything ballet since I kind of keep that aspect of my life rather a secret. I did have a close frienf who did know i practice ballet and one christmas we did go to a dancewear store to get me a new pair of ballet slippers and she threw in a new pair of tights!!! But I do sometimes treat myself to some tights or legwarmers.

Not really balletwear, I'm going to get a new pair of tapshoes with a giftcard I got. I have all the balletwear I need, but my tapshoes are 1.5 size too big so I get blisters every class.

I only treated myself to a new pair of tights, but I needed them for a performance, so not really much of a Christmas gift! I do want to treat myself to a new leo or some warm-ups, though. Waiting to see if there are any good sales in January!

Hey, I missed an opportunity here :angelnot:

I have started sewing my own leotards after a lesson from our wardrobe mistress and am soo enjoying that, maybe I should treat myself to some more fabric :shhh:

I've seen someone wearing a jingle bell to an open class... geez... I don't know how the teacher was ok with it... I hope that she was on the right count for stuff like grand battlement... or everyone would know that she messed up!!!

My Mom actually surprised me and got me new pointe shoes AND flat shoes (since I was going to have to purchase them eventually I did give her the sizes and styles needed when she asked me for ideas, just in case). I honestly did not expect her to come through with pointe shoes and even suggested a gift card would probably be better but I was extremely grateful. Now that I won't have to buy new shoes for myself, I may decide to treat myself to a new leotard :) .

I treated myself to my first real pair of tights and leotard (and dance shorts!). I'll be the only one in my classes wearing them but that's okay. Besides, if I want to take a class while traveling or in the city, I'll feel less self conscious with real dancewear. :)

I got a new pair of sansha flat shoes. Then, I splurged and used my Christmas money to get a Yumiko leotard. It won't be ready until March, but I'm excited anyway.

I totally want to do this! I havent worked with knits or stretchy fabric yet, but just got a cutting table for Xmas, and am hoping to maybe start with shorts. Do you need a pattern, or is there some stuff you can share in the making dancewear thread or PM me?

As or Xmas dancewear, ths year, I opted to wait and use dancewear as an incentive for a new fitness regimen and cutting out things I'm sensitive/ allergic to out of my daily food intake. Usually I get a skirt/leo combo or dress.

I got a couple of things dancewear related from post-holiday/Boxing Day sales and my parents sent me some things I had bought online and shipped to their address in the States earlier in the fall so I suppose those count :) I look and browse more than I buy and I have to try on leotards and most body wear as the sizing/styling is so variable, but I like a good set of legwarmers or warmups as a special treat!

I just bought myself new character shoes, which I suppose counts as a treat because I did already have a pair. The new ones are a million times more comfortable though!

My wonderful husband gave me new legwarmers and two new leotards!! But at this point I now have plenty of dance things. I just have to work, work, work this year until I can wear them all out and get new ones.

My mom gave me a check with "Good for one pair of pointe shoes" written on the memo line, and my sweet husband got me a subscription to Pointe Magazine! (OK, I may have offered him a gift suggestion...)

My new 5 foot freestanding ballet barre should be here any day now! Can't wait to do exercises without holding onto a chair, counter, bedpost, etc.
