carolinew_ballet
I would like some stretches to improve the height of my front extension. I have it above 90, but I would like to increase the height even more. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted February 19, 2013 Administrators Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 Caroline, you do stretches in class for that all the time! The most important thing is that you have control of your alignment and weight placement and that the leg is fully rotated! If you have that at 90ยบ, that is very good, as I think you are still quite young and probably still growing. Patience! Full extension with rotation does not happen quickly, especially to the front. patricia216
Have you ever heard of "stiff as a feather, light as a board"? The ways it works is that you make your entire body really stiff and held, and this makes you a lot lighter when other people lift you off the ground using two fingers. My teacher told me to apply the same concept to my extensions and it really helped! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted February 26, 2013 Administrators Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 Patricia, I'm sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense to me at all. One just does not make oneself stiff in ballet, as that totally prevents movement. Quote Link to comment
