Strengthening for pointe

Hi,

I would like to go into pointe soon and I was wondering if there were any excercises that I can do to strengthen my leg muscles/ankles for pointe.?

Josie, that would be ballet technique classes. That is how one prepares for pointe. How many classes a week in ballet technique do you have now? How long are the classes? How old are you? How long have you been studying ballet? Have you read the topic in the "Pinned" topics entitled Facts of Life about Pointe? I would like to help you, but I need more details about where you are currently in your work towards pointe.

I take 2 ballet classes,they are an hour each. I also take a jazz class that's an hour and help out with a pewee ballet class and help out with a pewee jazz class as well. I am 16 years old and have been doing ballet for about two and a half years.

Not enough ballet, Josie. :( One really should have a minimum of three 1.5 hour ballet classes per week during the year prior to pointe work, with more time added for the pointe work once you start.
