Wondering about turn out

My dd is being told that she has strong hip flexors and that she needs to work on her turn out. I am new to the dance world and learning as we go. She loves ballet more than anything and wants more than anything to become a dancer. I am wondering if she should work on something at home? Her teachers have said she dies everything else great but that.

All students need to work on the strength and flexibility of their rotation, commonly referred to as "turn out". The strengthening and flexibility aspect should be built into class work however there are exercises to be done outside of class that can help in these area. I suggest you ask her teacher to show your daughter some of these exercises or perhaps she may work with a physical therapist or a Pilates teacher to learn a few exercises and how to achieve them safely and correctly.
