Gender:Female
Main/Most recent training: 1 year company affiliated school
Level of school completed: high school grad
Audition method: internal promotion
Position granted: Trainee with scholarship
Position process/progress:  Promotion from top level of professional training program
Position Function: Bridge (?) They participate in school shows, perform community outreach, and are cast with company dancers in corps roles. They are considered the top level of the school and are tuition based, but closely associated with the company. The next level up is Studio Co, then Apprentice.
Location of company: US
Was this contract offered at a competition or because of competition attendance? No, but DD was in the top level of the professional training program on scholarship from a competition for her senior year of high school and then promoted to Trainee so technically yes. 🤔

What words of wisdom or reflection would you offer those coming after you?:  Investment in your dancer’s development and performance opportunities are key. Opportunities to be part of a corps in a main stage production are priceless- pay attention to whether Trainees seem to do this at prospective companies. If your child is highly ranked at their school they will have performed many principal school roles and this is a different skill that they may have less time in. Feedback to your dancer from faculty as part of conferences should be driving the plan at this stage, along with your child’s interests. Your child’s path will be theirs and not someone else’s. Breathe ☺️
