Ballet Schools in New York - New York City

Sorry, I didn’t only consider residential programs. However, many of these schools have day programs so they tend to have a connection with nearby housing. You can call the schools and ask about dorms.

No, sadly I am not in the NYC area and would only be able to attend ones with housing offered like BAE, SAB, Ellison etc. If you know of any other one with housing besides ones that have been mentioned on here let me know!

I believe that Gelsey Kirkland does have a relationship with a student dorm, though it is not their own on-site housing. Getting directly in touch with the schools will probably give you more information than on here though.

I think that you might want to get your parents involved in this.  There are several schools that affiliate with dorms or long term housing for students but the only one that I know that actually has it's own dorm is School of American Ballet.

Just an update: Valentina Kozlova's Dance Conservatory moved from NY to CT this past summer.

Does anyone know of any studios in NYC that offer drop in ballet classes during the summer?  I saw that BAE offers "summer courses" but I'm not sure what that means. I'm looking for perhaps 2-3 classes a week in the end of June/early July for an 11 and 14 year old.  Thank you!

Twotutus,  options include places with year round open classes such as Steps on Broadway (11 yo would need permission as she is younger than their normal stated age but it can be done with teacher permission), Broadway Dance Center (also ask there but they do tend to get younger dancers in some of their classes but most are geared towards adults), Ballet Arts at City Center,  and Alvin Ailey.

Thank you so much!  What a great list... I'll check them all out.

twotutus, BAE has a SI in August, but it also offers weekly classes a few days/week from June-August. How many days your children attend per week depends on which levels they place in at the audition. Although you can't choose how many days/week to attend, you can choose how many weeks to attend & they'll adjust the price accordingly.

As others have said, Peridance, BDC, and Steps offer ballet classes in the summer. Just call in advance & see if they'll allow your children to attend. Most classes are for adults, but they tend to let some children in depending on previous training.
