Hopping in fouettes

Recommended Posts

Whenever I do fouettes, I always hop into demi pointe instead of releve. Sometimes when I don't hop into it, my foot skids under me and I move an inch. How do I have a consistent releve when I fouette?

Welcome to Ballet Talk for Dancers, AngelaY. :)

Practice the relevés without the turn. While there is not a 'hop' in a relevé, there is a tiny spring that brings the foot under your center. This prevents traveling.

Please visit our Welcome site and tell us a bit about yourself and your training in ballet. The more we know about you, including your age, length of training, quality of training (such as pre-pro school, SI programs, number of days and hours per day, etc.), the more we will be able to help you.
