Pointe Classes

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that for a few of the collegiate ballet programs, only a few semesters of pointe classes are required.  This started me thinking, I've always taken this websites suggestions for training, with the necessary hours dedicated to pointe technique.  At what point in a dancers journey can these classes taper down or be eliminated?  I know that professional company dancers don't have separate pointe classes.  Just a company class that is all en pointe or center is en pointe and rehearsals.  Just would love some thoughts on this.

At my level, it’s a choice to do pointe in class or not, at barre or not, in centre or not.  I expect the same would be for any other dancer. Whatever we need, we do. At Uni, I had a choice once the teacher had seen the level and skill.
