The Cecchetti syllabus still officially has toe in front of the knee in Canada (I cannot speak to elsewhere).  However, many Cecchetti teachers I have worked with believe that we have moved on from this, and tell their students to take the toe to the back of the knee.

Yes toe in front for cecchetti method. The royal ballet originated in this method which is why it is like that in the old film clip. Personally I like it that way as it keeps the coupe tighter, with toe at back you often see people missing that movement and just stepping out from the retire.
