Guest DaNsTa
Hello, Im just wondering, why in the R.A.D Syllabus guys/boys/men only have to go upto grade 5 in the Grades instead of going onto grade 6, 7 and 8 like the girls. Im not complaining or anything, just curious  . Thank you Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I think it's a matter of careers "steering". Male dancers are at such a premium worldwide that the Academy structured the curricula so that any boys that came their way were encouraged to follow the vocational track, rather than the recreational Higher Grades. Mel Johnson
There's nothing, however, that says boys CAN'T learn Higher Grades material. Grades 6 & 7 concentrate on the High Romantic and Imperial styles of movement, and grade 8 is really just a barre and some variations. Men have been known historically for learning everybody else's parts, anyway!;) Link to comment
