Guest dancingostrich
I know it has been talked about but i cant find anything about this: what is Syllabis? My studio has done some changes. They say that they are now following the Ballet West syllabis for closely than before. (i.e. they changed the class names and how many thare are, each class has a specified leotard color, consert class) Isnt syllabis just another word for routine? sorry for this stupid question. Mel Johnson
A syllabus is part of the instructional schedule of the training of a dancer, or anyone in anything, for that matter. The largest division of the schedule is the curriculum, which states the progression of classes and their general content. Syllabus is next, describing what will be covered in that term or year's classwork. The final refinement of the schedule is the lesson plan, which the teacher makes out for her/himself, stating what the specific day or week will cover in terms of information. Some methods are very detailed, leaving nothing to chance and dictating everything right down to the lesson plans, but others are more free-form, and are at the teacher's discretion. Link to comment
