Not a "Dance Mom"

Recommended Posts

AnastasiaBeav

Hello,

I am a former amateur ballet dancer and mom to DD (almost 10). At the end of this season she left her competition team to focus more on ballet. She still takes classes at the comp studio but is now considered a "rec" dancer there. She is enrolled at a ballet academy and is attending their summer intensive.

Currently my biggest issue is not focusing on all of the technical flaws I see in her dancing and just appreciate that she is having fun. Because it is about having fun at her age right? At least that is what I keep telling myself. šŸ˜‰

Welcome to BT4D! As aĀ fellow mum of a young dancer, I couldnā€™t agree more thatĀ having fun is important at this age. Iā€™ve seen someĀ serious young dancers who burnt-outĀ quickly or have no other hobbies or interests. Trust that herĀ ballet studio will fix her technical flaws. She has time!
