Thank you for the links, Momof3! I particularly enjoyed the Scientists and Ballet one...but I do have to say that using Watson and Crick as an example of teamwork was incorrect--the two stole some of Rosalind Franklin's work!

(sorry, I had to get that off my chest. I'll be quiet now)

Sorry, Lucie, but that is a ticket selling site, which is not quite the purpose of our links.

Welcome to Ballet Talk for Dancers. I hope you will enjoy our discussions. As a fan/avid balletgoer, you might want to check out our sister site, Ballet Alert!, which is linked at the top of all of our pages. :)

Good article from September's issue of Dance Magazine about what's happening at Ballet Arizona.

He will be one of thirty-eight recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal "...for their significant contribution to Canadian life"

As “Canada’s Local Ballet Company”, Ballet Jörgen is making ballet accessible. This is a significant contribution to Canada, and therefore is absolutely deserving of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.”

Thanks for posting, ascballerina. My husband and I attended the kick off for the 25th anniversary season recently. I realized there was a lot I didn't know about this little company! Mr, Jorgen has certainly had some outstanding accomplishments over the last quarter century!

mom2, I agree re: Bengt Jorgen's accomplishments. One of the great things about Ballet Jorgen is the fact that they perform in so many smaller communities, bringing ballet beyond the big cities.

I would agree. That's why I'm such a huge advocate for them. They come to my city about every two years, and while I'll admit that there are decent performances (NYCB, even) a hop, skip, and a border crossing away, my mother isn't comfortable driving in unfamiliar places, so it's wonderful for me that a company comes here. Their performances are quite lovely, too.

My mother actually has a really nice story about Mr. Jorgen. She was at the theatre when I was part of the Local Cast for the Nutcracker, and got lost backstage. A man came up to her, and upon finding out she was lost, not only took her back to the lobby, but escorted her to her seat in the theatre! Only later did she realise she'd met the AD of the company.
