Guest alliecat93
I have always danced on marley floors, never wood ones. I was wondering if there is a significant difference between dancing on the two. Several of the summer programs that I'm auditioning for audition at studios that have wodden floors. I'm worried that I might not adjust well and it will hurt my chances f getting in. What are some things to think about when dancing on wood floor. I think the most obvious would be that you wouldn't need as much force in pirouettes. Also, it seems like pointe would be very slippery on wodden floors. Is rosin the answer for that? Thank you to everyone who helps me! Sorry if this was posted on the wrong board. Link to comment
Mel Johnson
If a wooden floor is well-worn-in and has been used as a classroom for years, the surface is probably going to be fine for dancing. You may notice a slightly less tacky or spongy texture to the floor, and while it will probably allow you much more freedom to turn, it should not be too slippery to allow other movements. And yes, rosin is a specific if you feel that the floor is too slick. Link to comment
