Guest Bballet55
i have been taking ballet since i was 7 and 2 years i injured my hamstring severly and instead of getting help i waited 6 months until i couldnt stand the pain anymore. i took a year and a half break from dance and took physical therepy for 6 months. i just recently started ballet again, and it really stinks because i am back in the beginner/intermediate classes. but anywho, my hamstring has been starting to hurt a lot again, especially when im at the barre, should i start going to physical therepy again or what? also, i hate being stuck in the easy classes, how can i strengthen my technique faster.. or do i just have to wait? --- <3 britt Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 30, 2002 Administrators Report Share Posted September 30, 2002 Britt, when you have been off with an injury it generally takes about the same length of time that you were off to get back to full strength and technique. There is not a way to rush it, but taking as many classes as possible per week would be the best way. However, if you are still having trouble with the hamstring, I would suggest slowing down and also going back for more therapy. You may have to go very slowly for a while, until that is totally healed. Sorry Link to comment
Guest Bballet55
thanks thats not exactly what i wanted to hear because i will be 17 soon and i want to join the local ballet company.. but if it takes a long time for my leg to heal, i guess i will have to wait even longer before they except me, right? ahh!! Link to comment
Guest primapink26
i feel for you. I once broke my ankle when i used to be a figure skater. it kept me of the ice for 4 months! it was hard to get back into skating after that. just keep up the positive attitude and you'll beable to get back to the place you once were!
