Guest BBNButterscotch
Hi- I have a question and a problem! Lately (as in the past 2 wks) my teacher says I've started turning my hip in and sickling my left foot. I never did this before I went on pointe, or even for awhile after, it's just started. Why could I being doing this and is there anything I can do to help me stop? Thanks! Lauren Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 4, 2002 Administrators Report Share Posted October 4, 2002 BBN, if you are not using your rotator muscles correctly it is highly likely that you will sickle your foot. Go back to basics. Start from 1st position and figure out what is going on. There is no way we can say what you are doing or not doing without seeing you, but you can probably figure it out. You could be turning the foot out without the rotation happening from the hip, and taking it too far side for your rotational ability. Quote Link to comment
Guest BBNButterscotch
Well, today we figured out what the problem was. The 2 other students in my class didn't come, so I had a private class... and she found I was only doing it on echappes... on everything else I was fine. So we discovered that it's becaus I wasn't speading evenly in echappe (i was spreading farther on the right) and it made my hips crooked and thus the sickling. How nice it is to have a private class to discover these things in! Quote Link to comment
