Hello.

out of curiosity, i was looking at the British roayl ballet web site and looking at what you have to do to audition. It didnt say on the site how advanced you had to be to audition so i E-mailed them. they replied saying a large majority auditioned at working at or towards intermediate level.

Whats intermediate level mean?

is pointe work already been taught by this point?

What level in RAd syllabus?

Thankyou very much.

Victoria.

RBS has their own curriculum and syllabus quite apart from RAD.

But it's been my experience from knowing students who have attended upper school that when they say Intermediate, the RAD equivalent is (wait for it!) -- Intermediate!

;)

And yes, pointe work is expected.

major mel, sorry to drop in, but just out of curiosity...when you say rad intermediate, do you mean old intermediate (now advanced 1) or old elementary (now intermediate)?

i can't imagine for upper school just elementary...

I mean the present Intermediate, old Elementary.

That's where most of the auditionees seem to place, according to my student sources. After all, they are going there to improve!;)

My student sources say that Upper School auditionees are mostly 15, to turn 16 by the time they are admitted. At least, that's what they observed. They described Upper School as a place where progress can be, and often is, made rather rapidly.
