when do get on pointe?

Lara, you start pointe when your teacher says you're ready. No level or age is a guaranteed "trip" for the nod; please read Ms. Leigh's excellent "Facts of Life about Pointe" if you haven't already.

In that case, you probably have awhile to wait, because you have to have not only the technical accomplishment, but the physical strength of the student who has had three years of training with the latest year made up of technique classes of an hour-and-a-half each per week. There's nothing that's going to hurry that up!:)

But maybe, with the skating background, you would be there sooner than later. The only judge is the one that's there to see you - i.e., your teacher!:)

Lara,

Like Mr. Johnson said, you usually start pointe when your teacher recommends that you should start it. I went on pointe when I was 11 years old. I waited until my teacher told me when I should go on. So, I think it is safer to wait until your teacher tells you. :)

It completely depends on you and your strength. You go on pointe whenever your teacher tells you. Some people start really early (which is usually too early for them), and some people start later. I remember I think three summers ago I went to a SI where I was one of two girls in my class who wasn't on pointe, so we had to take all the pointe class on flat. But don't worry, you'll be ready sooner or later.
