Guest Orly*
i'm 14 and working on my intermediate ballet exam at the moment, and i have 3 hour and a half ballet classes a week. my ballet school is considered one of the best in dublin, but i noticed some of the posts talk about how ballet only 3 times a week isnt enough. do you think that there's any chance of a career in ballet with my training? i've been on pointe since i was eleven too. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 16, 2002 Administrators Report Share Posted October 16, 2002 Orly, by 14, if you are on a career track, you really need more intensive training, especially in the area of separate pointe classes. 4.5 hours per week total is just not enough. Our 14 year olds who are on track for career have about 13-14 hours a week plus rehearsals. Link to comment
Guest Orly*
I thought so, maybe i'll speak to my teacher about it and see about extra training, thanks Ms Leigh. Link to comment
Guest alliecat93
Ms. Leigh, You siad your 14 year olds who are on track have 13-14 hours plus rehersals. I was just wondering how much that increases each year and how many hours your seniors who are on track have. Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 19, 2002 Administrators Report Share Posted October 19, 2002 It doesn't increase much for seniors except for more rehearsal and performance. Most of the top level class are in Young Dancers of the Washington Ballet, and they do some performing outside of Nutcracker and Spring Concert. Link to comment
