Google "special characters".

Here's one chart using the "alt+number" system that Major Mel used above. Years ago I printed out a list of the special characters I need most often and taped it to my monitor:

hold down "alt" while you type the numbers "0174" on your keypad (make sure numerical lock is on), then let go of alt and you have: ®

another example: alt0169 gives you: ©

I still haven't found a capital y-umlaut. Anybody?

I see that you have not received an accurate answer to your question from 5 years ago, MM.

Try alt+0159. Comes our Ÿ for me!
